facebook sucks!

Sorry about the English, but to write German takes a looong time.

Excellent article however about Facebook. I, too, have received these emails; those that look like they are from a friend.

But I have a bigger concern with Facebook. In my WebDOTde Club (ie paid for) email account, the following has now appeared in my password protected area. When I reply to an email, this is at the bottom of the reply page:

Öffentliches Facebook-Profil des Empfängers anzeigen, falls vorhanden

A checkmark box is then available to turn off their response to you, if desired.

My concern is, of course, that ALL my emails must go to their servers to determine if they respond that who I am writing to has a Profil with them! Knowing the technology today, there is no question to me that all email information is available to them, not just the browser header.

And, not being naive anymore, it is easy to imagine that Facebook is not the only one interested in the massive amounts of infomation they gather.

I also don't like the tool bar that was put by Web into my password protected area. If they want to do this on their portal side, that is OK. But, again, I pay for my account, and don't expect this kind of stuff behind the password. To me, that is Spyware perfect!

You guys are the professionals; what do you think? Should I, and we all, be concerned? My phone call to Web's tech service did not produce any response. Where can one find out the AGB's that firms like Web have with others, not just with end users like myself?

How does one make some Dampf in Germany with issues like this? What moves people and firms to think again about what they do?

I look forward to your response. Thank you in advance.

Sincerely, Robert Lewis
